Nahum 3:1-3 says,
1 Woe to the bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage; her prey never departs. 2 The noise of the whip, the noise of the rattling of the wheel, galloping horses and bounding chariots! 3 Horsemen charging, swords flashing, spears gleaming, many slain, a mass of corpses, and countless dead bodies—they stumble over the dead bodies!
Nahum’s “bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage” was not exaggeration—it matched Assyria’s own self-portrait, seen below:

The Assyrian kings deliberately built their empire on terror psychology. Their own inscriptions and palace reliefs brag about atrocities:
The bloody city is one built and sustained by violence and bloodshed. “Full of lies and pillage” points to both deceit in diplomacy and plunder through warfare. In other words, Assyria’s so-called diplomacy could not be trusted, because they had no sense of honor. Once the city or nation had been disarmed through diplomacy, the helpless people were plundered and enslaved. Today we know this as “weaponized diplomacy.”
“Her prey never departs” suggests a relentless appetite—Nineveh is like a predator that never releases its victim. Assyria was the first empire of note that used deportation and exile as a political weapon. They believed that if populations were moved to new territories, they would have less motivation to fight for their homeland. Hence, they deported the surviving Israelites (2 Kings 17:6) and replaced them with other conquered people whom they deported to the land of Israel (2 Kings 17:24).
Nahum 3:4 reveals the spirit behind Nineveh, saying,
4 All because of the many harlotries of the harlot, the charming one, the mistress of sorceries, who sells nations by her harlotries and families by her sorceries.
This is similar to the description of Mystery Babylon in prophecy, which reigns today. In Revelation 17:1 the angel told the apostle, “Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.” Revelation 17:15 tells us,
15 And he said to me, “The waters which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.”
Furthermore, Revelation 18:23 says to the harlot, “all the nations were deceived by your sorcery.” This implies that the diplomatic lies were reinforced by occult power and manipulation. Assyria was known for divination and incantations that were cast to blind the eyes of the people so that they would believe that it was in their best interest to submit to the rule of the harlot.
This occult practice, though rarely reported in the mainstream media today, is standard practice in the harlot’s empire today—especially in the West. Virtually all of the large corporations employ an astrologer or witch on staff or on call to tell them the most opportune time to introduce a new product or a new policy.
Nonetheless, their occult practices cannot save the empire from divine judgment, for we read in Revelation 17:16, 17,
16 And the ten horns [powers] which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire. 17 For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose by having a common purpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be fulfilled.
God’s judgment upon Mystery Babylon will be executed through the very nations that have been oppressed and deceived. At some point the nations will revolt and treat the great harlot in the same manner that Jezebel was overthrown. 2 Kings 9:36 says, “In the property of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel.” This was an early pattern of the fate of the great harlot-sorceress of Mystery Babylon at the end of the age.
Nahum 3:5-7 says,
5 “Behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord of hosts; “And I will lift up your skirts over your face, and show to the nations your nakedness and to the kingdoms your disgrace. 6 I will throw filth on you and make you vile, and set you up as a spectacle. 7 And it will come about that all who see you will shrink from you and say, ‘Nineveh is devastated! Who will grieve for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”
To display one’s nakedness is a graphic way of saying, “I will expose you for who you really are.” This theme first appears in Eden when Adam and Eve, after sinning, found themselves “naked” (Genesis 3:7). Neither could fig leaves (self-justification) hide their nakedness from God. Hence, the nations will no longer be deceived into thinking that the harlot is beautiful or that she should be seen as a moral compass. Revelation 17:16 says that God will “make her desolate and naked” for all the world to see.
This is happening today to the Zionist state, the great counterfeit bride who is actually a harlot. Their genocide in Gaza and their overall policy of ethnic cleansing in Palestine as a whole has served to lift the harlot’s skirts and expose their sin to all the nations in the world. God Himself has thrown filth (feces) on her, as Nahum says. We have reached the point in history where the beast has turned against its rider and is, even now, ready to eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
It is not enough to overthrow the great harlot-sorceress, for then she might simply be replaced with another form of ungodly empire. We know from Daniel 2 and 7, combined with Revelation 17-18, that we are living in the final moments of the last form of the last beast empire. It will be demolished by the great “stone” (Christ and His Kingdom), never to rise again. The deceit is being exposed by the truth, and the sorceries and spells are being nullified by the divine court.
Not only is Nineveh called "the bloody city," but also Jerusalem (Ezekiel 22:2; 24:6, 9). No longer will it be called "the holy city," for that title is now reserved for the heavenly city alone (Revelation 21:2). The earthly city is identified as Hagar, while the heavenly city is identified as Sarah, the mother of the true inheritors (Galatians 4:25, 26).
